After
a few weeks of Caroline being on bed rest, our grandson James came into the world at United Hospital under the loving care of our family friend, Dr. Carolyn. As we reflect on this past Christmas season,
just think about Jesus’ delivery over 2000 years ago. Mary had to ride a donkey
for about 200 miles—In those days they called that ‘Inducing Labor.' And then having to deliver in a barn because her husband forgot to call ahead for a place to stay? And how about those three kings? Gold? Okay gold is good, but frankincense and myrrh for crying out loud? How about an Epidural and Demerol?? At a minimum
hot water and some towels, dudes. And
then a bunch of shepherds come to gawk--All these guys hanging out without a clue
what to do. One can
only hope that God went easy on Mary and blessed her with a two-pushes-and-he's-out birth. And I hope Joseph gave her major
jewelry after messing up on the hotel room…
